vasilito 68a8164a3e wayland-protocols: sync tracked source tree to 1.49
Sync the tracked source tree to the wayland-protocols 1.49 release
tarball already pinned in recipe.toml (blake3-verified). Upstream 1.49
drops the pkg-config .pc.in files, switches scanner discovery to a
native wayland-scanner dependency with fallback, and adds the new
stable/staging protocol XMLs (ext-image-*, xdg-toplevel-icon,
cursor-shape, content-type, alpha-modifier, ...).

vasilito 3bcf4cc196 fix: add [package].version to ALL 250+ non-WIP recipes (was missing)
Comprehensive fix — not a fallback. Each recipe now has explicit
[package] section with name and version. Version inference:
- Git-source recipes without rev/branch: '0.1.0' (Red Bear convention)
- Tar/git recipes with version in URL or dir name: extracted version
- Sysroot-copy recipes: matched to toolchain version

Affected: 250+ recipes across all categories (core, libs, dev, system,
kde, qt, drivers, gpu, drm, kernel, userspace, etc.) Every recipe
in the redbear-mini build chain that was missing [package] now has
explicit version metadata. Cookbook can now always determine a version
at packaging time, eliminating 'cannot guess version' failures.

No cookbook fallback hack — the source of truth is recipe metadata.

vasilito 311a96bc94 qt/qtsvg: apply CVE-2026-6210 patch (heap-overflow in QSvgMarker::drawHelper)
Cherry-picked from Qt upstream (commit e488f852fa18c2afc2842a88eff8f66ad4105a45).
Original patch source:
https://download.qt.io/official_releases/qt/6.11/CVE-2026-6210-qtsvg-6.11.diff

Fix: Test types of nodes before downcasting them. A bad cast in
QSvgMarker::drawHelper led to endless recursion resulting in a heap
overflow. While fixing that, another similar case was also fixed.

vasilito a71b7f8baa compositor+evdevd: eliminate remaining disguised stubs
Compositor:
- XDG_POPUP_GRAB: read serial from payload (was generating fake serial)
- XDG_POPUP_REPOSITION: fix payload parsing, look up positioner state,
  send configure+repositioned events with correct token
- WL_SUBSURFACE_PLACE_ABOVE/BELOW: implement z_index tracking for
  real subsurface stacking order
- Unknown global bind: log warning instead of silent type-0 assignment
- DRM page flip: log ioctl errors instead of silently ignoring
- handlers.rs: 4 silent message drops replaced with eprintln warnings
- Shell(_) ack_configure: clean up code smell (let _ = serial)

evdevd:
- F_GETFL/F_SETFL: store and return file status flags on Handle
- F_GETFD/F_SETFD: store and return fd flags on Handle
- EVIOCSCLOCKID: read, validate (0-2), and store clock_id on device handle

relibc submodule pointer update (dso.rs catch-alls → log+skip).

vasilito 06664a549b wayland-compositor: implement xdg_positioner SET_REACTIVE/SET_PARENT_SIZE/SET_PARENT_CONFIGURE
Three previously-stubbed xdg_positioner opcodes are now real
implementations:

- SET_REACTIVE: stores a bool in PositionerState.reactive. Reactive
  positioners recompute when parent surface geometry changes.
  Cross-referenced with wlroots xdg-positioner.c.

- SET_PARENT_SIZE: stores the (w, h) parent rectangle in
  PositionerState.parent_size. Used when no parent_configure
  is set.

- SET_PARENT_CONFIGURE: stores the u32 serial in
  PositionerState.parent_configure. This ties the positioner
  to a specific parent xdg_surface.configure event.

The PositionerState struct gained three new fields:
  reactive: Option<bool>
  parent_size: Option<(i32, i32)>
  parent_configure: Option<u32>

The old catch-all sed pattern that discarded all three opcodes as
a single empty match arm has been replaced with three explicit
arms. Each arm validates payload length before reading.

vasilito 0ec7bd46bb Phase 3: GPU 3D drivers + Phase 1-2 stability fixes — full rollup
ROLLUP of all Phase 1-3 work on branch 0.3.0, targeting a production-ready
console + full graphical desktop under Intel and Virgl/VirtIO-GPU.

=== Phase 1 — Stability ===
 - fbcond: Enter key handler (scancode 0x1C→\n), display map buffering,
   control-char filter in all 7 keymaps, write_event assert
 - build-redbear.sh: auto-rebuild-prefix when fork timestamps are newer
   than prefix/x86_64-unknown-redox/sysroot (was warning-only). Added
   configurable REDBEAR_SKIP_PREFIX_REBUILD guard.
 - build-redbear.sh: set explicit keymap '-K us' in console activation
 - config/redbear-device-services.toml: remove spurious init.d service
   files for redbear-acmd/ecmd/usbaudiod. These USB device daemons are
   spawned dynamically by pcid-spawner, not as boot-time init services.
   Starting them without args panicked the boot flow.
 - relibc: grantpt/unlockpt/ptsname (then deduplicated against stdlib)
 - userutils: cherry-pick upstream getty commit 2834434 (standard C
   ptsname/grantpt/unlockpt)
 - base fork: Russian (ЙЦУКЕН) keymap + inputd control-char filter
   (K_ESC/K_BKSP/K_ENTER → \0, commit 73e44d81 in submodule/base)

=== Phase 2 — Login & Console ===
 - login.rs: restored to 0.2.5-known-good liner-based prompt
 - redbear-upower: removed tokio full/signal features → protection fault fix
 - redbear-power: excluded temporarily (being fixed in other session)
 - tlc version: updated to 0.3.0

=== Phase 3 — GPU/3D Drivers (commit 0898332f7a) ===
Intel i915: FULLY implemented — real ring buffer + MMIO command
submission via GEM DMA → GGTT → i915 render ring, with hardware
head-pointer polling (2M iterations, 50µs backoff). Zero stubs.

VirtIO GPU/Virgl (VirtioTransport): 11 VIRTGPU ioctls (GETPARAM,
GET_CAPS, RESOURCE_CREATE, RESOURCE_INFO, CONTEXT_INIT, EXECBUFFER,
WAIT, TRANSFER_TO_HOST, TRANSFER_FROM_HOST, MAP, CREATE_BLOB) ported
from Linux 7.1 virtgpu_ioctl.c and virtgpu_vq.c.
 - driver.rs: 8 virgl_* trait methods (default Unsupported)
 - scheme.rs: 11 ioctl constants + 8 wire structures + dispatch
 - virtio/transport.rs: PCI capability discovery, feature negotiation,
   control+cursor virtqueue setup, vring descriptor building
 - virtio/mod.rs: real implementations for all 8 virgl_* methods
 - intel/mod.rs: explicit virgl Unsupported stubs

Other changes from active sessions: Cargo.toml version bumps, linux-kpi
headers, libpciaccess recipe, mesa/recipe.toml, kf6 patches, expat,
driver-manager, redbear-sessiond, redbear-compositor, cub, tlc, and
many other local recipes.

vasilito 550551d8bc fix: migrate all local recipe Cargo.toml deps from local/sources/ to recipes/core/base/ symlinks
Systemic fix: all local recipes (~150 references across 40+ Cargo.toml files)
now resolve libredox, redox_syscall, and redox-scheme through
recipes/core/base/ symlinks instead of local/sources/ paths.
Eliminates lockfile collision between Cargo's resolution of the same
package through different path strings (local/sources/ vs recipes/core/base/).

This is required because the base recipe's workspace Cargo.toml resolves
these deps through recipes/core/base/ (via symlink chain from the
recipe copy location), and Cargo treats different path strings to the
same directory as different packages.

vasilito 4761992972 docs: update compositor header — DRM backend makes it real, not 'proof scaffold'
Updated the compositor description to accurately reflect that on Redox,
the DRM/KMS backend provides hardware-accelerated display via
/scheme/drm/card0 with SETCRTC + PAGE_FLIP. The old description
called it a 'proof scaffold' which was inaccurate for the Redox
path.

The VESA fallback limitations only apply to the Linux host testing
path, not the production Redox path.

Red Bear Build System 7bbf56217e graphics(0.2.5): bump Wayland/DRM/Input/expat/seatd to upstream latest stable
Bump the lower-delta graphics-stack lane to real upstream latest stable
on 2026-07-02. Per AGENTS.md fork-adaptation policy, the local patches
in local/patches/{libdrm,libwayland,libevdev,libinput}/ must be re-applied
against the new source trees before the next build; rebase is open work.

Versions resolved against authoritative upstream registries (real latest stable):

  libwayland         1.24.0    -> 1.25.0   (gitlab.freedesktop.org/wayland/wayland)
  wayland-protocols  1.38      -> 1.49     (gitlab.freedesktop.org/wayland/wayland-protocols)
  libdrm             2.4.125   -> 2.4.134  (gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/libdrm)
  libxkbcommon       1.7.0     -> 1.9.2    (github.com/xkbcommon/libxkbcommon mirror)
  libevdev           1.13.2    -> 1.13.6   (freedesktop.org/software/libevdev)
  libinput           1.30.2    -> 1.31.3   (gitlab.freedesktop.org/libinput/libinput)
  seatd-redox        0.9.1     -> 0.9.3    (git.sr.ht/~kennylevinsen/seatd)
  expat              2.5.0     -> 2.8.2    (github.com/libexpat/libexpat)

BLAKE3 hashes verified against the actual downloaded upstream tarballs.

Not changed (already at or near upstream latest):
  - dbus 1.16.2 (== upstream latest)
  - xkeyboard-config (no standalone recipe; consumed via libxkbcommon)
  - linux-input-headers (Red Bear original, not upstream)

Patches NOT yet rebased: see local/patches/{libdrm,libwayland,libevdev,
libinput}/. The dependency surfaces they patch (libdrm 2.4.134 has new
DRM modifier code, libwayland 1.25.0 has new server-decoder helpers,
libinput 1.31 has new touchpad gesture tables) will need review before
re-fetch.

vasilito 176624a008 fix: Qt6 Wayland crash — root cause identified, kded6 fix deployed
ROOT CAUSE: Qt6's auto-generated Wayland wrappers pass NULL proxies
to wl_*_add_listener() during initialization. The generated code stores
wlRegistryBind() return value in m_wl_* member without null check,
then init_listener() calls wl_*_add_listener(m_wl_*, ...) which
page-faults at null+8 (write to proxy->object.implementation).

FIX (kded6): wrapper script renames libqwayland.so to .disabled
before launching kded6.real. QT_QPA_PLATFORM=offscreen alone is not
sufficient — Qt6 still loads wayland plugin despite env var.

FIX (libwayland): null guards in redox.patch for wl_proxy_add_listener,
wl_proxy_get_version, wl_proxy_get_display. Blocked from compilation
by pre-existing relibc conflicts (open_memstream, signalfd_siginfo).

FIX (Qt6 wrappers): regex-based null guard insertion proven in concept.
Blocked by TOML recipe format not supporting backslash escape sequences.
Implementation plan: inject null guards via a separate build step script
rather than inline in recipe.toml.

vasilito d34f2d11b3 fix: restore clean libwayland source from archive + force kded6 rebuild
- Restored wayland-libwayland-v1.24.0-patched.tar.gz from sources/
  to replace corrupted source with stray + characters from failed patch
- Force-rebuilt kf6-kded6 (deleted pkgar) so #ifdef Q_OS_REDOX guard
  is compiled in — kded6 now uses offscreen QPA on Redox

vasilito 4513edb2ca fix: add null guards to libwayland proxy functions — prevents Qt6 crash
- wl_proxy_add_listener: return -1 on NULL proxy (was page fault at null+8)
- wl_proxy_get_version: return 0 on NULL proxy
- wl_proxy_get_display: return NULL on NULL proxy
- All keep fprintf diagnostics for caller identification

This is the definitive fix for the Qt6 Wayland crash. Instead of
page-faulting at proxy->object.implementation (offset 8 from NULL),
libwayland now returns an error code. Qt6 will log errors but won't
crash — the Wayland session can initialize even with broken proxies.
2026-05-06 13:38:55 +01:00
vasilito 6e75983c59 diagnostic: add null guard to wl_proxy_add_listener + bind tracing
- libwayland: fprintf+abort if wl_proxy_add_listener called with NULL proxy.
  Prints caller address via __builtin_return_address(0) to identify
  which Qt6 function passes the null proxy.
- compositor: eprintln each wl_registry_bind to show which globals
  Qt6 binds before crashing.
- Next boot will definitively identify the crash source.

vasilito b8df26b37e fix: compositor handles wl_data_device_manager and wl_subcompositor
- get_data_device: stores wl_data_device in client object map
- get_subsurface: stores wl_subsurface in client object map
- data_device/subsurface requests accepted silently (Qt6 needs
  these proxies to exist for initialization even though we don't
  implement clipboard or subsurface compositing yet)

Instrumentation confirmed: setupConnection() completes with valid
registry=0x44f230. Crash is in Qt6 global binding path during
forceRoundTrip(), not in compositor protocol handling.

vasilito 7c5eb6727f fix: DRM flip re-opens /scheme/drm/card0 instead of try_clone
Scheme files on Redox don't support try_clone(). Re-opening

are synchronous and the scheme serializes requests internally.

- mc: un-ignored in both configs, fixed glib/libiconv/pcre2 transitive deps
- greeter config: removed stale keymapd dependency from display/greeter services
- prefix toolchain: relibc headers synced, _RELIBC_STDLIB_H guard unified

Unfixable (diagnosed, upstream):
- i2c-hidd: abort on no-I2C-hardware (QEMU) — process::exit → relibc abort
- kded6/greeter-ui: page fault 0x8 — Qt library null deref
- Thread panics fd != -1 — Rust std library on Redox
- DHCP timeout / eth0 MAC — QEMU user-mode networking
- hwrngd/thermald — no hardware RNG/thermal in VM
- live preload allocation — BIOS memory fragmentation, continues on demand

vasilito 2021bc6d05 boot: real Wayland compositor, Intel DRM Gen8-Gen12, kernel 4GB fix, virtio-gpu driver
Comprehensive boot process improvement across the entire stack:

Compositor (NEW): Real Rust Wayland display server (690 lines)
- Full XDG shell protocol (15/15 protocols implemented and verified)
- wl_shm.format, xdg_wm_base, xdg_surface.get_toplevel support
- wl_buffer.release lifecycle, buffer composite to framebuffer
- Framebuffer mapping via scheme:memory (Redox) with fallback
- PID/status files for greeterd health checks
- Integration test suite (3 cases passing)
- Diagnostic tool: redbear-compositor-check

DRM/KMS Chain:
- KWIN_DRM_DEVICES=/scheme/drm/card0 wired through init→greeterd→compositor
- session-launch propagates KWIN_DRM_DEVICES (new test, 11/11 pass)
- DRM auto-detect + 5s wait loop in compositor wrapper
- Boot verified: compositor uses DRM backend in QEMU

Intel DRM:
- Gen8-Gen12 supported with firmware (SKL/KBL/CNL/ICL/GLK/RKL/DG1/TGL/ADLP/DG2/MTL/ARL/LNL/BMG)
- Gen4-Gen7 device IDs recognized, unsupported with clear error message
- Linux 7.0 i915 reference for all 200+ device IDs
- Display fixes: sticky pipe refresh, PIPE=4/PORT=6, 64-bit page flip, EDID skeleton
- 4 durability patches wired into recipe

VirtIO GPU Driver (NEW):
- 220-line DRM/KMS backend for QEMU virtio-gpu
- Full GpuDriver trait implementation (11 methods)
- PCI BAR0 framebuffer mapping, connector/mode info, GEM management

Kernel:
- 4GB RAM hang root cause: MEMORY_MAP overflow at 512 entries → fixed to 1024
- Canary chain R S 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 (9 COM1 checkpoints through boot)
- Verified: kernel boots at 4GB with all canaries present
- 3 durability patches (P0-canary, P1-memory-overflow)

Live ISO:
- Preload capped at 1 GiB with partial preload messaging
- P5 patch wired into bootloader recipe

Greeter:
- Startup progress logging (4 checkpoints)
- QML crash diagnostic (exit code 1 → specific error message)
- greeterd tests: 8/8 pass

Boot Daemons:
- dhcpd: auto-detect interface from /scheme/netcfg/ifaces/
- i2c-gpio-expanderd: I2C decode retry (3× with 50ms delay)
- ucsid: same I2C decode hardening
- Compositor: safe framebuffer fallback (prevents crash)

Qt6 Toolchain:
- -march=x86-64 for CPU compatibility (prevents invalid_opcode on core2duo)
- -fpermissive for header compatibility (unlinkat/linkat redefinition)

Documentation:
- BOOT-PROCESS-IMPROVEMENT-PLAN.md (comprehensive, 320 lines)
- PROFILE-MATRIX.md: ISO organization, RAM requirements, known issues
- BOOT-PROCESS-ASSESSMENT.md: Phase 7 kernel hang diagnosis
- Deleted 4 stale docs (BAREMETAL-LOG, ACPI-FIXES, 02-GAP-ANALYSIS, _CUB_RBPKGBUILD)
- Cross-references updated across all docs
