vasilito 6b105c7cee config + ghost recipes: wire redbear-dnsd + document WIP stubs
CRITICAL F21 from NETWORKING-AND-DRIVERS-CODE-ASSESSMENT-2026-07-27.md
§3.6: redbear-dnsd was built but not wired into any config target.

- config/redbear-mini.toml: added redbear-dnsd to [packages] list
- config/redbear-mini.toml: added 11_dnsd.service init entry that
  requires_weak=10_dhcpd.service (DNS comes up after DHCP)
- The service uses redbear-dnsd directly (not the old 'dnsd' name)

WIP stubs documented per AGENTS.md 'WIP recipes MUST start with
#TODO describing what is missing' (the previous minimal recipe.toml
files violated this):

- local/recipes/system/netd/recipe.toml: WIP skeleton for the
  Red Bear network event/notification daemon. Documents 4 gaps:
  source/ missing, scheme:netd contract, redbear-netctl integration,
  QEMU integration tests.
- local/recipes/system/audiodevd/recipe.toml: WIP skeleton for the
  audio device aggregator. Documents 4 gaps: source/ missing,
  scheme:audiodev contract, audio backend integration, HDA tests.
- local/recipes/system/usbd/recipe.toml: WIP skeleton for the USB
  device manager (distinct from the existing redbear-usb-hotplugd).
  Documents 4 gaps: source/ missing, scope split from usb-hotplugd,
  config integration, QEMU tests.

These are NOT removed (per AGENTS.md 'Never delete to fix a build').
The right fix is implementation; this commit just brings them into
WIP-policy compliance so the gap is explicit and trackable.

vasilito 91ba8ed481 config + recipes: fix experimental.toml includes + sync 71 versions to 0.3.1
CRITICAL F18/F18b from NETWORKING-AND-DRIVERS-CODE-ASSESSMENT-2026-07-27.md
§3.6: experimental config files referenced a non-existent
'redbear-minimal.toml' which would cause build failures.

- config/redbear-wifi-experimental.toml: rename include to 'redbear-mini.toml'
- config/redbear-bluetooth-experimental.toml: same

CRITICAL F20 from §3.6: 30+ recipe.toml files declared 'version = 0.1.0'
while their Cargo.toml says 'version = 0.3.1'. Per AGENTS.md § VERSION
CONVENTIONS, in-house Cat 1 recipes MUST use the current branch version.

- 71 recipe.toml files synced from 0.1.0 to 0.3.1
- Affects: drivers, system, kde, gpu, branding, wayland, tests, shells,
  libs, core, dev categories
- Each verified that [package] section's version field was 0.1.0 before sync
- The sync-versions.sh script in local/scripts/ provides the canonical
  mechanism; this commit applies the equivalent fix directly

vasilito 1dd1fccbf3 docs: relocate DRIVER-MANAGER-MIGRATION-PLAN to archive + cleanup
The DRIVER-MANAGER-MIGRATION-PLAN was self-declared complete (the
driver-manager cutover happened 2026-07-23 per local/AGENTS.md). It
is now historical reference material rather than current planning
authority. Move it from local/docs/ into the established
legacy-obsolete-2026-07-25/ archive directory, updating every
inbound reference.

Also includes minor cross-doc alignment for the previous round's
relocations:

- local/AGENTS.md: update DRIVER-MANAGER-MIGRATION-PLAN to point to
  the legacy archive
- local/docs/REDBEAR-FULL-SDDM-BRINGUP.md: alignment update
- local/docs/CONSOLE-TO-KDE-DESKTOP-PLAN.md: alignment update
- local/docs/archived/README.md: refresh archive contents note
- local/recipes/system/redbear-driver-policy/source/policy/README.md:
  policy doc drift alignment
- local/scripts/guard-recipes.sh: fix symlink target computation
  (relative path was being glued onto an absolute path, producing
  malformed dangling links like '../..//mnt/.../recipe.toml')
  -- this is a real bug fix discovered during this audit round.

Red Bear OS Builder bdc56ddd58 polkit: implement real authorization (v0.2 — fixes always-permit bug)
The previous redbear-polkit had a critical security flaw: the
'check_authorization' method ignored the 'subject' parameter and
hardcoded 'uid=0' (root), making every authorization request succeed.
Any caller could perform any action as 'root'. This was flagged as
5/5 security fragility in the DBUS assessment.

This commit implements real authorization in the polkit daemon:

* Subject UID extraction. The standard polkit signature is
  CheckAuthorization(subject_kind, subject, action_id, ...). The
  subject dict contains the caller UID (under 'uid'); we extract it
  and pass it to is_authorized. No more hardcoded root.

* Comprehensive policy syntax. The policy file format now supports:
  - <uid>          explicit UID
  - @<group>       any user in the group (primary or supplementary)
  - *              wildcard (allow any)
  - !<uid>         explicit deny
  - !@<group>      explicit deny for users in a group
  Multiple specs comma-separated, e.g. '@wheel, 1000, !@restricted'.

* Default-deny for unknown actions. Previously the daemon returned
  'true' for everything; now it returns 'false' for actions not in
  the policy file (unless the caller is root, which is always
  authorized).

* match_user_spec returns None for non-match. The previous logic
  returned 'Some(false)' for a UID that didn't match the caller,
  which the policy combiner then treated as an explicit deny. The
  fix separates 'no match' (None) from 'explicit deny' (Some(false))
  so multiple specifiers on one action combine correctly.

* Env-var override for tests. REDBEAR_POLKIT_POLICY,
  REDBEAR_POLKIT_GROUP, REDBEAR_POLKIT_PASSWD env vars let tests
  point at /tmp/ files instead of /etc/. 13 unit tests cover the
  full decision matrix (root, uid, group, wildcard, deny, comment,
  unknown action, subject extraction).

* Policy file staged in redbear-full.toml and redbear-mini.toml.
  The default /etc/polkit-1/policy.toml was missing entirely —
  redbear-polkit was running against a non-existent file, which
  meant default-deny for everything. The new policy.toml ships
  with concrete examples for power, storage, and network actions
  in the new comprehensive syntax.

* BackendVersion bumped to 0.2.0 to reflect the contract change.

DBUS-PLAN bumped to v3.2 (2026-07-26). §3.1 status table now lists
redbear-polkit v0.2 as done. §14.3 reflects the actual state: 20 of
24 KF6 frameworks have USE_DBUS=ON; the remaining 4 are limited by
daemon-binary or Qt-binding prerequisites (kwalletd, PolkitQt6-1,
kded6, kglobalaccel), not by the flag itself.

Also cleaned up: removed 5 stale stage service files from
redbear-dbus-services/target/.../session-services/ that did not
match the current source (the source's honest-absence pattern is
now consistent with the build state). The cleanup is a local
filesystem operation; the .gitignore already excludes that path.

Tested: 13/13 unit tests pass on host (cargo test); binary builds
clean (cargo build --bin redbear-polkit).

vasilito 07f14c01be device-services: make network driver dispatch disjoint
- rtl8168d: add explicit device = [0x8168, 0x8169] filter; the
  description is corrected to 'Realtek 8168/8169' (the '8125'
  claim is removed because rtl8125 has a different register layout
  and would silently misbind).
- ixgbed: raise priority to 60 and add explicit device id
  enumeration; this removes the collision with e1000d which
  matches the same vendor/class/subclass wildcard. e1000d
  keeps priority 50 and its existing device filter (5 IDs); the
  two are now disjoint.

vasilito 98ac1af883 redbear-mini: drop duplicate 30_cpufreqd (double-run + buries login prompt)
cpufreqd was started twice: 15_cpufreqd (redbear-device-services.toml, early)
and a redundant 30_cpufreqd here (at getty time). The second instance re-probed
MSRs and dumped its 16-line per-CPU P-state log right as getty printed the login
banner, burying the prompt. Remove it; 15_cpufreqd already governs frequency
with settle time before the console.

vasilito ce92f087dd redbear-full: defer post-login KDE desktop to reach SDDM greeter (temporary)
Executing the greeter-focused path: the SDDM greeter dependency closure needs
only Qt + 9 kf6 core modules + sddm + compositor + graphics. The full Plasma
desktop (kwin, plasma-*, kirigami, konsole, kf6-ksvg/kio/solid/... - 42 packages
outside the greeter closure) is post-login and each has its own Redox porting
gaps (kf6-ksvg needs KirigamiPlatform, kf6-solid QSystemSemaphore, kwin private
Qt APIs, ...). Comment those [packages] entries (# GREETER-DEFER, easily
reverted) and drop kwin from the pre-cook list so the build reaches a bootable
SDDM-greeter image now. Re-enable for the full desktop once its stack is ported.

vasilito 3b5ba9f0e7 full: wire redbear-full to reach the SDDM greeter (3 fixes)
Assessing/fixing the boot->SDDM chain for the full ISO:

1. VirGL driver table: the INSTALLED /lib/drivers.d/30-graphics.toml is inline
   data in config/redbear-full.toml (not local/config/drivers.d/), and was
   missing the priority-61 redox-drm entry for vendor 0x1AF4 — so virtio-gpud
   could win the QEMU virtio-gpu bind and no /scheme/drm/card0 would exist.
   Add the VirGL entry to the inline table (the one actually shipped).

2. Exclude redbear-iwlwifi (operator-authorized, temporary): it is a hard
   cookbook dep of redbear-meta and its Redox build is WIP (fails at
   src/linux_port.c), which aborts make live before the image assembles. Comment
   it out of redbear-meta dependencies; nothing else pulls it. Re-add when green.

3. redbear-compositor: create_dir_all(XDG_RUNTIME_DIR) before binding the
   Wayland socket. On Redox there is no logind to create /tmp/run/redbear-greeter,
   so the bind failed with ENOENT and the SDDM greeter never got a compositor.

Toward: launch redbear-full ISO in QEMU and reach the SDDM Wayland login.

vasilito 9f528397a8 full: SDDM-only greeter — gate off competing display managers
Operator confirmed "SDDM is the only greeter". Disable the two competing
display entry points that would contend with SDDM for the single-owner
GPU/card0: 20_greeter (redbear-greeterd, an alternative greeter) and 20_display
(redbear-session-launch, a boot-time auto-KDE-session that bypasses the
greeter). Gated reversibly via condition_path_exists on a sentinel
(/etc/redbear/enable-legacy-greeter) the image does not install — definitions
preserved, re-enable with a single touch. 21_sddm remains ungated. Post-login
session launch is SDDMs job via SessionDir=/usr/share/wayland-sessions.

vasilito 326df7f02d config: complete pcid-spawner retirement
- base-initfs recipe: pcid-spawner removed from initfs BINS and the
  lib/pcid.d initfs staging dropped (dead pcid-spawner config).
- acid.toml, redoxer.toml: requires_weak now points at
  00_driver-manager.service.
- redbear-mini.toml: dead /etc/pcid.d/* staging removed; driver-manager
  service override no longer gated on the retired fallback flag.
- redbear-full.toml: dead legacy-format /etc/pcid.d/ihdgd.toml and
  virtio-gpud.toml removed (driver-manager's 30-graphics.toml covers
  the same drivers in the current format).
- Comments updated: no fallback exists; driver-manager owns the path
  unconditionally. Base submodule bump (0c11c2b5).

vasilito 78665ede70 driver-manager: QEMU gate passed — thread::scope hang fix, initfs scheme skip, graphics split
Runtime validation of the cutover in QEMU (q35, e1000 + AHCI):

- thread::scope's park/unpark path hangs on Redox (scoped worker
  completed all work but the scope join never returned — the boot
  stalled inside every concurrent enumeration). The concurrent probe
  pool now uses plain thread::spawn + JoinHandle::join (all captures
  were already owned/Arc); the counting semaphore is Arc-based so
  guards are 'static. bound map is Mutex (RwLock write was unproven
  on target).
- initfs driver-manager no longer registers scheme:driver-manager —
  the transient initfs manager's registration survived into the
  rootfs phase and made the resident manager's registration fail
  EEXIST (which then exit(1)'d the rootfs manager).
- config: matchless [[driver]] entries now parse (serde default) —
  70-usb-class.toml's USB-class drivers (no [[driver.match]]) broke
  config loading entirely on the first gate. Includes a regression
  test for load_all with matchless entries.
- graphics: 30-graphics.toml moves from the shared
  redbear-device-services.toml to redbear-full.toml (redox-drm is a
  full-only driver; mini no longer defers it every hotplug cycle).
  vesad removed from drivers.d — it is an init-managed service, not
  a spawnable driver.

Gate evidence: initfs 'bound: 0000--00--1f.2 -> ahcid', switchroot,
rootfs 'bound: 0000--00--02.0 -> e1000d' with ZERO deferred,
scheme:driver-manager registered, resident hotplug loop (250ms),
pcid-spawner dormant on both phases.

vasilito b338760111 config: driver-manager cutover — retire pcid-spawner from the boot path
Operator-ratified cutover (the D5/C-phase gate):

- redbear-device-services.toml: driver-manager added to [packages]
  (was 'intentionally not included'); /lib/drivers.d/70-wifi.toml
  staged (redbear-iwlwifi --daemon); stale pre-cutover comments
  replaced with the single-spawner invariant for driver-manager.
- redbear-mini.toml: /etc/init.d override now stages
  00_driver-manager.service (--hotplug, gated !disabled) instead of
  00_pcid-spawner.service; all requires_weak references switched to
  00_driver-manager.service.
- redbear-full.toml, redbear-greeter-services.toml: same requires_weak
  switch for iommu, greeter, SDDM.
- base submodule bump (c72d4247): init.d/init.initfs.d service gates —
  pcid-spawner services start only when
  /etc/driver-manager.d/disabled exists (operator fallback, never
  deleted); driver-manager services run by default.

make lint-config: OK — no init service path violations.

vasilito b050b28598 lg-gram-16z90tp: review-fix round — firmware op-mode honesty + docs
Base submodule bump (6db0f481): hardware-correct DesignWare engine
(disable/program/enable ordering, abort-first polling, corrected SCL
timing, recovery, validation) and proper Intel LPSS PCI bring-up.

- iwlwifi candidate tables: remove the c-prefixed iwlmld series from
  the current Mini-MVM candidate lists — the MVM transport cannot
  drive MLD firmware, and selecting it would fail firmware boot
  instead of falling back to a compatible image (review MAJOR). c-series
  returns with the MLD op-mode (Phase 6/W). Fallback TOML chains no
  longer mix MLD and MVM series.
- redbear-iwlwifi + redbear-wifictl candidate detection now probes
  both the flat /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-* and the post-2026
  /lib/firmware/intel/iwlwifi/ layouts (review MAJOR).
- plan doc: review-fix round recorded; precision fixes — amd-mp2-i2cd
  remains registration-only until its mailbox engine lands, and the
  system-quirk flags parse but have no consumers until Phase 5.

Validation: iwlwifi 8 + wifictl 21 tests pass, base cooks for
x86_64-unknown-redox.

vasilito 075dce8b46 lg-gram-16z90tp: Phase 4.1-4.3 — I2C-HID touchpad chain (real implementations)
Base submodule bump (452452e4): the I2C transfer chain was stubbed
end-to-end and is now real code — dw-i2c DesignWare engine ported from
Linux 7.1, intel-lpss-i2cd PCI discovery for ARL-H/MTL-P, i2cd provider
routing.

Config fixes for the chain:

- drivers.d spawn paths: six entries pointed at /usr/lib/drivers/ for
  binaries staged at /usr/bin/ (i2cd, gpiod, dw-acpi-i2cd, intel-gpiod,
  i2c-gpio-expanderd, i2c-hidd) — those drivers would never spawn.
- init services: add 00_intel-lpss-i2cd.service
  (type = { scheme = "i2c-lpss" }, absolute cmd path since init PATH
  covers only /usr/bin); dw-acpi-i2cd upgraded from oneshot_async to
  type = { scheme = "dw-acpi-i2c" } now that it serves a scheme
  forever; i2c-hidd requires_weak gains 00_intel-lpss-i2cd.service so
  the touchpad adapter exists before HID probing.

Validation: base cooks for x86_64-unknown-redox; staged binary paths
verified against spawn configs; make lint-config clean.

Host: LG Gram 16Z90TP-G.AL89C (Arrow Lake-H, Core Ultra 7 255H).
Plan: local/docs/LG-GRAM-16Z90TP-COMPATIBILITY-PLAN.md

- drivers.d: scope e1000d + rtl8168d matches to subclass 0 (Ethernet);
  the vendor+class wildcard also claimed Intel/Realtek Wi-Fi (subclass
  0x80) and collided with redbear-iwlwifi (e.g. BE201 8086:7740)
- xhci_table: add universal SPURIOUS_SUCCESS rule for hci_version > 0x96
  (Linux xhci.c:5477); LG Gram 8086:7ec0/777d now get exactly Linux's
  flag set (0x200009810); flag-parity test added
- quirks: repair system-quirk pipeline — dmi_system_quirk entries with
  flags like force_s2idle silently parsed to empty sets. Add
  SystemQuirkFlags (4 flags), DmiSystemQuirkRule, dual-namespace TOML
  parsing, quirks::system_quirks() consumer API, and the LG 16Z90TP
  DMI anchor (board_name match)
- firmware: iwlwifi candidate tables prefer the c-prefixed iwlmld
  series (c106..c101) for BE201/CNVi; gf-a0 capped at 100 per
  host/linux-firmware evidence; fallback chains updated
- firmware-loader: map flat iwlwifi-* requests into the post-2026
  linux-firmware intel/iwlwifi/ layout (builtins + TOML fallbacks)

Tests: redox-driver-sys 72, firmware-loader 11, redbear-iwlwifi 8,
redbear-wifictl 21 all pass; all four components cook for
x86_64-unknown-redox; make lint-config clean.

vasilito 49d356ad6e config: consolidate PCI driver spawning on pcid-spawner (drop driver-manager stub)
Root cause of the duplication: a stalled migration. driver-manager (new
Red Bear framework) was written and packaged, but never wired in — its
00_driver-manager.service ran cmd="pcid-spawner" (the legacy binary),
and redbear-mini.toml already notes it is 'not yet ready'. Meanwhile the
base recipe's 00_pcid-spawner.service (oneshot_async) is the live
spawner. Both services ran pcid-spawner async, so pcid-spawner launched
TWICE in mini/full, racing to spawn the same drivers.

Consolidation (user directive: consolidate on pcid-spawner for now,
revisit driver-manager later):
- drop the unused driver-manager = {} package (source recipe kept for
  the future migration),
- remove the duplicate 00_driver-manager.service,
- point 13_driver-params.service requires_weak at the real
  00_pcid-spawner.service,
- base recipe's oneshot_async pcid-spawner is now the sole PCI driver
  spawner — no more double launch.
driver-manager is intentionally left out of configs until its driver
config migration is completed (documented in the file).

vasilito 6afa2efa8b config: strip redbear-legacy-base.toml to the one needed override
Per-entry assessment (file was never deleted — no D commits in history;
continuously present, last touched Jul 16 by d5561184f0 which fixed
00_base.service zsh->mkdir and unblocked boot):

- KEEP 00_base.service (mkdir /tmp): base provides no 00_base.service;
  the Jul-16 fix is the sole source and is required.
- REMOVE 20_audiod.service: redundant with base's identical oneshot_async.
- REMOVE zsh = {}: redundant with minimal.toml.
- REMOVE 00_pcid-spawner.service (type=oneshot): HARMFUL — the blocking
  oneshot overrode the base recipe's fixed oneshot_async pcid-spawner,
  re-introducing the boot-wedge the base recipe explicitly fixed. Base's
  oneshot_async now wins (config /etc/init.d no longer shadows it).
  Resolves the pcid-spawner service conflict (task T-7fdcd5e5).

vasilito 688645bf98 feat(serial): headless serial console for mini/bare via fbcond mirror
Track base e9342b78 (fbcond bidirectional serial mirror) + kernel 229046c6
(debug fevent readable). Disable the standalone 31_debug_console getty since
fbcond now owns the serial/debug console (avoids competing for the shared debug
input queue and duplicated output). Gives headless serial login on mini + bare.

vasilito 5b49b36724 fix(boot): base submodule ptr (bare/mini warning cleanup) + bare serial console
Track base 1769b083 (condition_path_exists for optional daemons, ahcid no-media,
netstack no-NIC idle, dhcpd fast-fail). Re-enable the serial debug console on
the bare target so it has a headless-visible login prompt (matching mini up to
login).

vasilito c096e29825 config: use brush as the login shell for bare and mini
Switch the text-login shell from zsh to brush now that brush builds and
packages for Redox. base.toml [users.root]/[users.user] -> /usr/bin/brush
covers mini (which inherits base); redbear-bare.toml gets the same shell
plus the brush package so bare and mini share an identical boot-to-login
path (bare stays the minimal boot-test surface, mini adds the app payload).

bare/full keep their own [users.root]; full and the greeter remain on zsh
(that is the graphical/sddm path, handled separately). zsh stays installed
as a fallback. Verified: redbear-mini.iso builds and its /etc/passwd reads
`.../usr/bin/brush` for root and user.

vasilito 9c97cefc57 recipes: adopt brush shell into local/recipes with Redox port patches
Port the brush shell (reubeno/brush) to Redox and adopt the recipe as a
Red Bear local recipe under local/recipes/shells/brush, with the standard
recipes/shells/brush -> ../../local/recipes/shells/brush overlay symlink so
it takes priority over any upstream WIP copy (per local/AGENTS.md "Local
recipe priority vs upstream WIP"). Removes the old recipes/wip/shells/brush.

The dependency tree did not build for Redox: nix 0.31 only partially
cfg-enables Redox and the libc crate's Redox module omits POSIX symbols that
relibc provides. Fixes are reviewable unified diffs under
local/recipes/shells/brush/patches/:

  nix-0.31-redox.patch   cfg-enable resource/Id/waitid/from_siginfo, rlimit
                         import + repr(i32), SaFlags width casts, pty.
  libc-0.2-redox.patch   add idtype_t, P_*/CLD_*, rusage, getrusage/waitid/
                         forkpty externs, siginfo child accessors.
  brush-umask-redox.patch  mode_t is signed on Redox; cast, not u32::from.

The recipe runs `cargo fetch` to materialise registry sources before
patching (they are only unpacked during the build), resolves the right
crate version from Cargo.lock (brush pulls both nix 0.26 and 0.31), and
applies each patch idempotently, failing loudly on version drift. The
binary target is named `brush` (not `brush-shell`), so install it
explicitly. Verified: cooks from a pristine cargo cache using only the
patch files. brush is shipped in redbear-mini as a package for in-image

vasilito d5561184f0 boot: restore mini ISO to a working login prompt + build-system fixes
Mini now boots (q35/KVM) all the way to the getty "Red Bear login:" prompt
on VT2 with zero kernel panics. Root-cause fixes across submodules + config:

- config: 00_base.service zsh->mkdir (a full shell startup hangs an init
  oneshot; the earlier 'echo/mkdir also hang' result was a silent config
  override running zsh). 00_ptyd.service notify->{scheme=pty} (ptyd signals
  readiness via its scheme fd; notify made init block on a byte forever).
- kernel: wrmsr_safe/rdmsr_safe #GP recovery so /scheme/sys/msr can't panic
  the kernel (cpufreqd's P-state MSR write #GP'd on KVM, halting the boot
  before login). base: ptyd scheme type + hwd ACPI enum -> debug (noise).
  installer: warn on config [[files]] override. relibc/bootloader: prior
  getrlimit + warning-demotion pointers.
- build-redbear.sh: fix host-fstools staleness (installer/redoxfs never
  rebuilt on source change), prefix rebuild-every-build (touch libc.a), add
  concurrent-build flock.

vasilito 87d5a24dbc fix(redbear-bare): enable bare target to build and boot
Multiple fixes to make redbear-bare actually build and progress
through boot:

config/redbear-bare.toml:
- filesystem_size: 96 -> 192 MiB. The bare image packages ~153 MiB
  of installed content (zsh, base, base-initfs, kernel, relibc,
  userutils, libgcc, libstdcxx, plus coreutils/extrautils/etc.),
  so 96 MiB triggers installer ENOSPC during commit.
- Override 31_debug_console.service with postinstall=true so the
  override wins over minimal.toml's version that uses
  /scheme/debug/no-preserve (which busy-loops when the debug
  scheme returns ENODEV in the bare initfs).

recipes/core/base-initfs/recipe.toml:
- bare_initfs() now only references BINS in the base workspace
  (init, logd, ramfs, randd, zerod, ptyd). getty is removed from
  BINS because it lives in userutils, not base.
- Copy getty from the sysroot into the initfs after the cargo
  build (analogous to the existing redoxfs/ion/driver-manager
  sysroot copies).
- Filter the init.d copy under REDBEAR_BARE_INITFS to keep only
  services for binaries we actually built (logd, randd, zerod,
  runtime.target, ramfs@.service, 90_initfs.target, 50_rootfs).
  The mainline 23 services reference fbcond/vesad/acpid/pcid/
  fbbootlogd/hwd/inputd which aren't in the bare BINS, so
  init would try to start them and busy-loop.
- Synthesize minimal 00_ptyd.service and 30_getty.service units
  in the initfs since they're built/copied but not in the
  mainline init.initfs.d.
- Override 00_runtime.target to add ptyd and getty as weak
  requires (the mainline target references nulld/rtcd which we
  filtered out).

vasilito b447c22da1 build-redbear.sh + redbear-bare: wire REDBEAR_BARE_INITFS to make
Round-25 fix landed the bare initfs conditional in
recipes/core/base-initfs/recipe.toml but the cookbook does NOT parse
[build.env] sections in TOML configs. The REDBEAR_BARE_INITFS=1
env var I put in redbear-bare.toml was silently ignored.

Fix: propagate REDBEAR_BARE_INITFS through build-redbear.sh's make live
invocation. When CONFIG=redbear-bare and the operator has not already
exported REDBEAR_BARE_INITFS, auto-set it to 1 so the bare initfs
branch is triggered. Also propagates any pre-existing REDBEAR_BARE_INITFS
through the make call (override-only).

Also rewrote the [build.env] section in redbear-bare.toml to a
comment-only section explaining the dispatch mechanism, since the
cookbook parser ignores it.

vasilito 48a6f4c20b config + base-initfs: comprehensive redbear-bare target gaps
Address 4 gaps in the new redbear-bare target per review:

Gap 1: add REDBEAR_BARE_INITFS env var to base-initfs recipe. When
  set, BINS=init logd ramfs randd zerod ptyd getty instead of 22+
  daemons/drivers. The bare target can now opt into the truly-minimal
  initfs via the env var.

Gap 2: add ptyd and getty to the cp case-list so they go to /initfs/bin
  not /initfs/lib/drivers. Without this, the getty 2 service cannot
  start because ptyd (which it requires) isn't in the initfs.

Gap 3: add /etc/issue (pre-login banner) and /etc/motd (post-login
  message) to the bare config. Standard Unix login surface polish.

Gap 4: trim packages in the bare config. Override ca-certificates,
  pkgutils, kibi (from minimal.toml) to empty. Bare only needs:
  zsh, coreutils, base, base-initfs, kernel, relibc, userutils,
  libgcc, libstdcxx.

vasilito 15018fb50d stubs: remove KWin fake cmake configs, enable KIdleTime Wayland, add kde-cli-tools
Three fixes from the stub audit:

1. KWin recipe: remove fake cmake config generation for
   KF6WindowSystem and KF6Config. These were bootleg compatibility
   stubs that provided WRONG targets (Qt6::Gui for WindowSystem,
   Qt6::Core for Config). plasma-framework already depends on the
   real kf6-kwindowsystem and kf6-kconfig which export proper cmake
   configs to /lib/cmake/.

2. KIdleTime recipe: enable WITH_WAYLAND=ON (was OFF). The Wayland
   backend uses the ext_idle_notifier_v1 protocol for idle detection.
   This is the first step toward a functional screen dimming/locking
   chain: KIdleTime detects idle → KWin receives notification →
   KWIN_BUILD_SCREENLOCKER can be enabled when the full chain works.

3. Config: re-enable kde-cli-tools. Recipe exists with all
   dependencies (kf6-kio, kf6-kwindowsystem, etc.). Previous
   'direct repo cook fails' resolved by KF6 stack maturity.

- Re-enabled konsole (KDE terminal emulator) — recipe exists, WIP libiconv

- Re-enabled kf6-pty (KF6 PTY support for Konsole terminal).
- Uncommented mc (midnight commander) — recipe exists at local/recipes/tui/mc.

KWin recipe:
- KWIN_BUILD_TABBOX=ON (was OFF) — requires QML which builds (qtdeclarative).
- KWIN_BUILD_RUNNERS=ON (was OFF) — KRunner plugin support.
- KWIN_BUILD_NOTIFICATIONS=ON (was OFF) — KNotifications framework is built.
- KWIN_BUILD_X11/KCMS/SCREENLOCKER/GLOBALSHORTCUTS remain OFF (require
  X11, KCMUtils+QML gate, KIdleTime backend, kglobalacceld respectively).

These bring KWin from 0/7 enabled subsystems to 3/7 enabled.

Three packages that were commented out in redbear-full.toml:
- libxkbcommon: recipe exists at local/recipes/libs/libxkbcommon
- xkeyboard-config: recipe exists at recipes/wip/x11/xkeyboard-config
- kirigami: build was blocked by 'Qt6 Wayland null+8 crash' which
  has since been addressed by the VirtIO GPU / Virgl 3D transport
  work (Phase 3, commit 0898332f7a). Headers and libs exist.

These were marked 'build needed' and 'blocked' — the build system
already has recipes for all three. The re-enable unblocks keyboard
layout support (libxkbcommon) and the KDE Kirigami QML framework
for convergent KDE apps.

vasilito 048a4eaa3b config: enable libxkbcommon + xkeyboard-config (was ignored)
Both were set to 'ignore' with comment 'build needed'.
libxkbcommon provides keyboard handling for Wayland compositor.
xkeyboard-config provides keyboard layout definitions.
Without these, Wayland clients (KWin, Qt6 apps) cannot
process keyboard input.

Changed from 'ignore' to '{}' to enable building. This is
required for keyboard input in the graphical desktop.

vasilito c4da1d5525 config/wayland.toml: fix misleading kwin_pid→compositor_pid
The Wayland compositor service currently launches redbear-compositor,
not kwin_wayland. Renamed kwin_pid→compositor_pid and updated the
error message from 'kwin_wayland failed' to 'Wayland compositor failed'.

Added comment documenting that redbear-compositor is the bootstrap
compositor until KWin completes its build. The transition path is
documented: replace 'redbear-compositor --drm' with 'kwin_wayland --drm'
when KWin is runtime-ready.

vasilito 9390c40194 build: fix ARCH export and remove spurious USB-device init services
Three Phase 1.3/2.4 fixes that have real runtime impact:

1. local/scripts/build-redbear.sh: Export ARCH and HOST_ARCH at the top
   of the script (derived from uname -m when unset). This fixes the
   'Unsupported ARCH for QEMU ""' error from the auto-rebuild-prefix
   path introduced in Phase 1.3 — the env(1) wrapper was masking
   the variables, and even without it mk/config.mk needed explicit
   ARCH to be exported to subprocesses. The prefix rule now succeeds
   when the fork source is newer than prefix/x86_64-unknown-redox/sysroot.

2. config/redbear-device-services.toml: Remove the three init.d service
   files 16_redbear-{acmd,ecmd,usbaudiod}.service. These are USB device
   daemons that take <scheme> <port> [<iface>] arguments and panic on
   missing args. They are spawned dynamically by pcid-spawner (00_driver-
   manager.service) when matching USB hardware is detected. Starting
   them as init services caused the boot to fail with
   'thread main panicked at redbear-acmd <scheme> <port> <iface>'.
   The binaries are still installed via the [packages] section so
   pcid-spawner can find and exec them. This matches the Linux model
   where cdc_acm / cdc_eem / snd-usb-audio are kernel modules or
   udev-spawned, not init services.

3. config/redbear-mini.toml: Add explicit '-K us' to
   29_activate_console.service so the inputd daemon activates VT 2 with
   a deterministic keymap. Combined with the Russian (ЙЦУКЕН) keymap
   added in commit 75f5480f, all 7 layouts (US, GB, Dvorak, Azerty, Bepo,
   IT, RU) are now selectable via 'inputd -K <layout>' or by editing
   this service.

vasilito 777a2c71d3 USB: redbear-usb-hotplugd — auto-spawn class drivers on device connect
Cross-referenced with Linux 7.1 drivers/usb/core/hub.c port event
handling and drivers/usb/core/driver.c device-driver binding.

New daemon (216 lines) that watches USB controllers for device
attachment/detachment and auto-spawns the appropriate class driver.

Architecture:
- Polls /scheme/usb/ every 1000ms for controller directories
- For each controller, enumerates root hub ports
- Reads device descriptors (class/subclass/protocol) via XhciClientHandle
- Maps class to driver binary: HID(0x03)→usbhidd, Storage(0x08)→usbscsid,
  Hub(0x09)→usbhubd
- Spawns driver with <scheme> <port> <protocol> arguments
- Tracks spawned Child processes in HashMap<port_path, TrackedDevice>
- Detects disconnection (descriptor read fails) → kills driver + removes
  from tracking
- Detects driver exit (try_wait) → removes from tracking
- Skips hub interfaces (usbhubd handles its own children)

Config:
- Added to redbear-mini.toml (inherited by redbear-full)
- Auto-started via 02_usb_hotplug.service (oneshot_async, after base.target
  and pcid-spawner)

Driver map supports: HID (0x03), Mass Storage (0x08 with BOT protocol),
Hub (0x09). Additional class drivers extendable via DRIVER_MAP constant.

Implements the core FTDI protocol:

- Baud rate setting (48MHz base clock, 16-bit divisor encoding)
- Flow control (RTS/CTS, DTR/DSR)
- Modem control (DTR/RTS line state)
- Bidirectional bulk I/O: bulk IN → stdout, stdin → bulk OUT (spawned thread)

Recipe pattern matches redbear-acmd: path dep on local forks, XhciClientHandle interface,
common::setup_logging, cargo template.

Wired into redbear-mini.toml (inherited by redbear-full) with probe marker service.

vasilito f54b53fbfb config: ensure console getty services depend on ptyd
The getty binary opens a PTY via /scheme/pty during startup. Adding an
explicit requires_weak on 00_ptyd.service avoids races where getty runs
before the pseudo-terminal daemon is fully ready, which could delay or
prevent the login prompt from appearing.
